It’s totally normal to be nervous about having the talk with your mom about your first period. But remember, not so long ago, your mom was nervous about having that same talk! Really, it's not so bad once you get started. So check out these tips on getting the conversation going.
Maybe the idea of a big sit-down with your mom seems intimidating. So, try opening the conversation casually by saying something like, "Hey Mom, when you were younger, were you nervous about getting your period?" This opens the door to discussion and gives your mom the chance to open up, too.
If it's hard for you to start a face-to-face discussion, leave your mom a note where only she'd find it. You could say something like, "Mom, I need some info about getting my first period. Can we talk tonight?" That way, she'll initiate a conversation with you and you won't have to worry about bringing it up.
You could take a straight-up approach and just tell her your feelings. Start by saying something like, "This is an embarrassing topic for me, but I need to talk to you about my period." That way, you and your mom can get to the point right away, and your mom can do her best to make the convo as un-icky as possible.
Just choose the First Period Talk note that sounds most like you. Print and sign it, then give it to your mom (or leave it where only she'll be able to find it).

How do i tell my mom i want 2 start shaving?? last time i dropped the hit she was like "no your too young to shave!" In my head i was like "mom i'm 11 i i'm going 2 have to start shaving!! if your hariy u should shave!"I'm cinda inbearist to wear shorts now cuz my legs are REALLY hariy!!and i don't like rasing my hand in class(unless i'm wearing a log-sleved t) cuz i feel like everyone that looks at me rase my hand see hariy armpits!!!
i haven't gotten my period either, but i am anxious to. here's what i did ( long story short) i asked mom " mom, what does menstruate mean? i read about it in a book." any way ur not the only one who always chickens out. i do TOO
Every time I say Hey mom or whatever I chicken out. I haven't gotten my period yet I just want to know when she got hers and I don't even have the nerve to ask her that! I don't know how i'm going to talk to her when I get my period. Any advice?
hi dance girl well i havent used tampons yet cuz i just got my first peroid ! lol. well tell her youd think they may be more comfortable for dance and maybe u may be able to see the pad a little. i do dance at my school cuz its a fine art school so when i start school and i have dance and im on my peroid ill probaly try them. i think pearl light will probaly be a good decision because ive heard iris say on here that they were a good decision and thats what a lot of people say too. Tell ur mom that the pad may feel weird when ur dancing
